Locked Away

A sit here in my cage.

While I grow with age.

And watch as the days pass me by.

All the tourists stop to stare as I glare.

Watching what’s in the other cage maybe a mouse that always slouches.

I’m getting hungry ill wait in the canopy high above the trees.

My feathers ruffle in the breeze.

I will someday be free.

From this endless cage of dreams.

  1. Well done Katie,
A great image of a regal bird. Very expressive poem as well.
On one of my trips to the USA, I was white water rafting in Alaska and saw many of these birds waiting at the side of the shallow river I was on.
